On August 22, 2014, a workshop on the development of China's auto parts industry cluster was held in Wuhan. The “national team†from 12 parts and components manufacturing bases in Chongqing, Dalian, and Liuzhou gathered to discuss the standardized approaches for the development of auto parts industry clusters. This seminar mainly discusses the common problems in the transformation and upgrading of auto parts industrial cluster bases, including the industry self-discipline, quality control, and safety production of the cluster companies, and promotes the healthy development of the industry.

It is understood that at present the major automobile production areas have emerged the embryonic form of the automobile industry cluster and formed six major automobile production areas including the Northeast, Beijing-Tianjin, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Central China, and Southwest China. In these major production areas, auto parts makers and automakers implement "close-fitting strategies."
According to Ye Shengji, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Wuhan is a comprehensive auto parts industry base, with a good industrial base and a relatively comprehensive development. It is making continuous progress, and there is much room for the development of auto parts industry.
At present, there are 12 national auto parts manufacturing bases. Hannan was listed at the end of 2012, making Wuhan the first national auto parts manufacturing base in Central China. The reporter learned yesterday that there are currently 68 auto parts enterprises in Hannan with an annual production value of 8.75 billion yuan. With the deployment of GM and Renault vehicle companies in succession, Hannan’s base has welcomed more opportunities and more than 40 parts and components companies are interested in setting up Hannan.
