In cooperation with the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Wuchuan launched the project of “long-life, high-specific-pressure water-lubricated bearings” and studied the use of water instead of oil as the lubricant medium. The scale was applied to conventional ship shafts, pumps, hydraulic turbines, and other industrial equipment.

At present, the research group has developed and synthesized a series of polyurethane composite materials for bearings, and processed polyurethane composite materials into water-lubricated bearings of different sizes to solve some problems in the process of modification and processing of rubber and plastic materials.

Wu Defang, deputy general manager of Wuchuan, believes that vessels sailing on the Yangtze River are mainly based on oil-lubricated bearings, excreting thousands of tons of lubricants each year to the Yangtze River, causing great pollution. With the strengthening of environmental awareness, oil-lubricated bearings It will eventually be replaced by water-lubricated bearings. Therefore, water-lubricated bearings have a broad market prospect.

This project is not the only project of cooperation between Wuchuan and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Both parties have carried out extensive cooperation in marine titanium alloys, sealing materials, coatings, safety rescue capsules for mines, steel bridges, and other areas, and together with the Shenyang Institute of Automation, obtained The first national 863 project.

Hu Defang told reporters that the deeper the cooperation and exchanges with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the more they felt the disconnection between enterprises and research institutes, and the stronger the desire for cooperation between production and research. The scientific research achievements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are systematic and cover almost all aspects of the shipbuilding industry. As a result, both parties have been able to make a concerted effort to establish a high-tech shipbuilding innovation center and jointly declare a national ship industrialization engineering base.
