At present, countries have many opinions on the choice of gear supply. Empirical values, empirical calculation formulas, and conditional calculation formulas are used in parallel. It is not difficult to find that different oil supply views have different oil supply requirements for gear transmissions under the same operating conditions. Therefore, the effects on the lubrication and cooling effects of the gear transmission (for example, resistance to gluing, pitting resistance, vibration, noise, and transmission efficiency) are also different. One of these phenomena is worthy of our deep thinking. Under certain conditions (such as low-speed small-size transmission), the oil supply specified by each oil supply viewpoint is very close, and the lubrication and cooling effects are also very good. The tooth surface emits more than 90% of the total heat. That is to say, most oil supply viewpoints can achieve satisfactory lubrication and cooling effects.
However, under another condition (such as high-speed large-size transmission), the oil supply quantity specified by each oil supply point of view differs greatly, and some actually differ by more than ten times. The lubrication and cooling effects of the gear teeth are also very different. In some oil supply viewpoints, the amount of oil that can be transferred from the tooth surface is less than 30% of the total heat generation. This means that the fuel supply has lost its practical significance. It can be explained from the above two phenomena that each oil supply viewpoint has certain limitations. Since there is no analysis at present, the scientific method of evaluating the viewpoints of oil supply has resulted in the chaos of various things in the selection of the oil supply of the gear transmission. In particular, it has had an adverse effect on the design, testing and application of current gear transmissions in China.
