In terms of isotope analysis testing technology, China introduced the first high-sensitivity and high-resolution ion probe mass spectrometer in China and developed corresponding testing technologies. The first silicon isotope analysis laboratory in China was established, and both technology research and application research are in a leading position internationally. In terms of on-site analysis of new technologies and new methods, through the development of the Continental Scientific Drilling Project, the development of on-site analysis technologies has been strongly promoted, and in particular, scientific drilling fluid analysis techniques have reached international standards. “Multi-functional on-board field experiment analysis equipment” is oriented to mineral exploration in remote covered areas in the west, integrating shallow drilling sampling, sample preparation, and on-site analysis, and has achieved good application results.

In terms of the development of geological analysis instruments, portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometers and portable near-infrared mineral analyzers have been successfully developed, and X-ray fluorescence spectrometers have been ranked first in the world for field analysis on oceanographic research ships. Other instruments that have been successfully developed include portable light guide colorimeters, ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometers and more than a dozen instruments. Among them, some have been mass produced and serialized.

For the development of reference materials, more than 160 kinds of national standard materials such as carbonate rock composition analysis reference materials and series of metal ore component analysis reference materials have been developed. At present, we are still working on the development of many standard materials such as polymetallic ores, quartzite chemical compositions, sillimanite, and Antarctic marine sediments.

In laboratory quality monitoring and management, the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and experimental test quality control methods were developed and began to be promoted in the national geological laboratory.
