On October 10th, a WD12 diesel engine with the words “10000th WD12 engine†was dragged down from the assembly line of No. 1 plant in Weichai New Power Plant, and was immediately loaded onto the vehicle factory. This is a moment of commemoration: Since the official release of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Weichai on October 20 last year, Weichai Power has completed the production and sales target of 10,000 units of the WD12 diesel engine within 10 months of this year, marking China's production and sales targets. The dominant driving force of heavy-duty vehicles is accelerating the upgrade from 10 liters to 12 liters.
A year ago, the market did not know what the WD12 was. After a year, sales exceeded 10,000 units, and it only reached 1,500 units in Shanxi Province. According to sources from Weichai Marketing Corporation, the market for WD12 has broken the domestic market with more than 12 liters of displacement and 380-horsepower or more engines monopolized by foreign brands, and has promoted the acceleration of Chinese heavy-duty vehicles. At present, major automakers are in desperate need of this type of heavy-duty engine with a single displacement of 12 liters. From January to September of this year, the WD12 engine accounted for 12.32% of the engine power of Weichai above 300 hp. Although Weichai Power has repeatedly added output plans for the WD12 engine, the market still has a difficult situation. It is estimated that 15,000 units will be produced and sold in 2007, a year-on-year increase of nearly 7 times; the number of orders for next year will exceed 30,000 units, and in 2009 it will reach a scale of 50,000 units.
As the flagship product of the 300-horsepower and higher series diesel engines in 2007, the new generation 12-liter WD12 high-power commercial vehicle engine jointly developed by Weichai Power Co., Ltd. and a well-known R&D institution in Europe covers 336 to 480 horsepower, fully passing the plateau, high temperature, and high cold. The limit test, after more than 50,000 hours of bench testing, 86 vehicle road tests, up to 5 years, cumulative 50 million kilometers of road test, is a higher level of high-horsepower engine platform after Steyr platform The new product is the largest domestic commercial vehicle engine. The main economic indicators of WD12 have reached the world's leading level. Compared with the existing domestic power engines of the same kind in the country, the WD12 engine has more fuel-saving, more reliable, stronger and safer features and strong technical advantages in the design concept of the WD12 engine.
WD12 adopts specially designed P12 high-pressure oil pump with pump pressure up to 1400 bar. With the increase of intake air volume, the effect of diesel injection atomization is greatly improved, combustion is more complete, and the fuel consumption of the entire vehicle can be effectively reduced by 10% to 15%. According to the annual calculation of 100,000 kilometers of bicycles, an engine can be saved in three years and the benefits are considerable.
The WD12 has an output torque of more than 1,300 Nm at 1,000 rpm and a maximum engine torque of 1950 Nm. It also features a wide range of high torques. The vehicle has good acceleration performance, high load carrying capacity, and extremely efficient operation.
The WD 12-liter power is significantly reduced and has an inherent advantage over the 9-11-liter engine. WD12 has undergone many years of market inspections and has a lower failure rate and higher reliability.
WD12 adopts Weichai Power and WEVB exhaust brake technology, which was introduced synchronously in the world. The braking power of the engine reaches from 2000 to 2500 rpm and the braking power reaches 160 to 230 kilowatts, which improves the brake efficiency of the vehicle by more than 50%, and effectively reduces braking. The number of times increases the braking safety factor, prolongs the life of the braking system, and increases driving comfort.
Some experts pointed out that the current European diesel engine is basically about 500 horsepower, and some have reached 600 horsepower, and this large-tonnage, high-horsepower, large-displacement development trend will continue. From the perspective of the domestic market, the rapid development of road construction, the steady advancement of the country's infrastructure, and the sound development of China's macro economy will all promote the continuous increase in the demand for heavy-duty, high-power heavy-duty trucks and construction machinery. Therefore, large-displacement, high-powered engines will become the mainstream of the domestic automobile and construction machinery market in a relatively long period of time, and Weichai Power will be the one who plays a major role.
