Advanced coal gasification technology mainly refers to pressurized coal gasification technology and new coal-water slurry gasification technology, also known as new coal gasification technology. Compared with fixed bed coal gasification technology, advanced coal gasification technology has outstanding advantages in terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, and adaptability of coal types. Taking synthetic ammonia as an example, compared with the conventional atmospheric fixed-bed gasification process, under the same coal raw materials, the advanced coal gasification technology can reduce the energy consumption per ton of synthetic ammonia by an average of 0.22 tons of standard coal; the gasification temperature is 1400°C. In the following, organic pollutants are completely decomposed; the scope of adaptability of coal species is greatly expanded, which can increase the comprehensive utilization level and economic value of coal resources. The development of this technology will greatly broaden the scope of coal utilization. At present, new types of gasifiers have been newly developed in China's enterprises and scientific research institutions, such as multi-nozzle opposed gasifiers developed by East China University of Science and Technology, water wall coal-water slurry gasifiers developed by Tsinghua University, and Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. The aerospace pulverized coal gasifiers are representatives of China's independently developed advanced coal gasification technology. Their construction costs and technology transfer fees are lower than foreign technology, and the technology is more mature. For example, aerospace furnace technology has been applied in more than 10 domestic enterprises, and there are more than 20 devices in the country that are using this technology. It is reported that two sets of 600,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia plant under construction in Kaifeng, Henan Province are equipped with four space furnaces.
Although domestic technology has been applied, there are still some problems and difficulties in the large-scale promotion of domestic advanced coal gasification technology. First of all, the existing atmospheric fixed bed coal gasifiers need large amounts of capital to carry out advanced coal gasification technological transformations, and enterprises cannot afford them. At present, there are hundreds of ammonia companies in China, and the ammonia alcohol production capacity using atmospheric fixed-bed gasification technology is about 30 million tons per year, accounting for about 70% of the ammonia alcohol production capacity of coal. These enterprises urgently need a coal gasification technology with little investment and advanced technology to carry out transformation so as to realize the localization of raw coal and promote the clean, economical and efficient use of coal in China. However, the investment in advanced coal gasifiers is relatively large compared to atmospheric fixed bed coal gasifiers. Second, the coal gasification technology application companies need an understanding process for advanced coal gasification technology. In particular, domestic advanced coal gasification technologies with independent intellectual property rights have been successfully developed and industrialized in the last five to six years, and there is still a certain gap compared to the extent and degree of awareness of advanced coal gasification technologies abroad.
To this end, the promotion of technology led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the specific implementation of various provinces is under way. 19 large and medium-sized ammonia companies including coal as raw materials have been started, including Yangmei Group Taihua and Yunnan Yuxi New Yinhe Chemical Co., Ltd. The advanced coal gasification technology transformation is expected to have a total investment of 10 billion yuan to increase the support for the existing normal-pressure fixed-bed coal gasification plant and related technological transformation of the enterprise, and to adopt advanced coal gasification technology for the coal chemical industry such as synthetic ammonia. Enterprises with atmospheric fixed bed gasification technology give priority support. With the increase of national support for energy-saving technological transformation of chemical companies, more companies will join the ranks of using domestic advanced coal gasification technology and energy-saving technologies.
