Battery development to this day, especially lithium batteries have been very close to its theoretical physical limits, we very much need battery materials, technology and shape innovation. Recently, KavanModi and his colleagues from Monash University in Australia added a surprise to the battery industry: The quantum technology greatly reduces the charging time.
The quantum-based technique has many advantages over the more traditional techniques, on the basis of which the team considered a nanoscale cell model with quantum energy states. They found that if multiple identical quantum cells interact, the charging time can be greatly reduced, and it is surprising that they do not get entangled with each other.
Recent research shows that more power can be extracted from a quantum battery when the same few cells are brought together and allowed to interact with one another. So Modi and his collaborators saw the dawn of reverse-charging quantum batteries. The team imagined several identical quantum cells, each of which moved from an initial low-energy state to a higher-energy (charge) state by means of some external field. Previous research on the so-called "quantum velocity limit" found that when different subsystems in this case, the cells interacting with each other, can shorten the time required from the initial to the final quantum states.
The team showed that N quantum cells in a statistical mixture of nonlinear states can be charged N times by an interactive rather than an independent charging scheme. This is a theory with infinite possibilities of research, hope that the team can bring us more surprises.
