According to the technical personnel of the China Railway Tunnel Group, the Suo Channel cross-sea tunnel project in Shantou City is the first subsea tunnel located in the 8 degree seismic intensity zone. At the same time, there are a large number of high-strength solitary rocks and 182 meters of bedrock protruding sections within the tunnel, which are characterized by complex geological conditions, high construction difficulty, and high safety risk levels. The total length of the tunnel is 6,680 meters, the length of the shield section is 3047.5 meters, and the design speed is 60 kilometers per hour. It is currently the most difficult large-diameter shield tunnel in China. After the tunnel with a diameter of 15.01 meters is completed, the inner diameter of the tunnel is 13.3 meters, which can achieve a two-way six-lane capacity.
