2017 "Fortune" World Top 500 Geely rose 67


On July 20, the 2017 Fortune 500 list was officially announced. The list is based on the company's 2016 annual operating income rankings, but it should be noted that the highest ranking may not be the most profitable. In the total list, auto manufacturers and parts suppliers have a total of 33 seats. Among them, there are 6 Chinese car companies on the list.

Among the global auto makers, Toyota Motor Corporation surpassed Volkswagen to become the automotive industry champion with US$254.694 billion in sales. In the overall rankings, Toyota Motor also jumped to fifth place from eighth place last year. Volkswagen, which ranks second in the auto industry, is second only to Toyota Motor Co., but its profit is much lower than those of Daimler and GM ranked third and fourth.

It should be pointed out that although this year's total list will be the EXOR Group (including Fiat Auto and Fiat Industries) was designated to the financial industry, but because it has a major controlling stake in the Fiat Group, now also count it into the automotive industry list.

Among the parts and components companies, the highest ranking is the German Bosch Group, with an operating income of $80.87 billion, and the overall ranking rose from 87 to 76 last year. In addition to Bosch, the list of parts suppliers include Continental, Denso, ZF, Magna, Hyundai Mobis, Aisin Seiki, Bridgestone, Sumitomo Electric, and Michelin.

From a country perspective, the automotive industry list consists of 10 companies in Japan, 6 in Germany and 6 in China, 3 in France and South Korea, 2 in the United States, and 1 in the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, and India.

6 Chinese car companies on the list

Judging from the countries to which the world’s top 500 companies belong, China’s list of companies has grown for the 14th consecutive year. There were 115 companies this year, an increase of 5 over last year. In terms of the auto industry, China has a total of six car companies this year, which is the same as last year. The Chinese automakers that are on the list this year are Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Motor Corporation, China FAW Group Corporation, Beijing Automobile Group, Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

SAIC Group: 41 Total List

In 2016, SAIC Motor’s operating income was US$113.86 billion, ranking 41 in the “Fortune” World Top 500, up 5 from last year, far ahead of other domestic automakers, and surpassing Nissan, BMW, Bosch and other companies.

Dongfeng Motor: Total List 68

The total ranking of Dongfeng Motor rose from 81 last year to 68, operating income was 86.193 billion US dollars.

FAW Group: Total 125 Lists

FAW Group once again ranked on the list with 2016 operating revenue of US$64.78 billion, ranking 125th overall.

BAIC Group: 137 Total List

In 2017, BAIC ranked 137th in the world's top 500 list, up 23 from the previous year. In 2016, its operating income reached 61.13 billion US dollars.

GAC Group: 238 Total List

Since 2013, GAC Group has been on the "Fortune" Global 500 list for five consecutive years, and its operating income last year was 41.56 billion US dollars.

Geely Holding Group: 343 Total List

Among the six Chinese car companies listed on the list, although Geely’s holdings ranked lower, it is the fastest-rising Chinese car company. In 2017, Geely Holdings ranked among the world's top 500 companies, rising from 67 to 343 last year. In 2016, Geely Holding’s operating income was US$31.43 billion.
