Recently, the project partners specially held a press conference for the bromobutyl rubber project and announced that the technical indicators of their products have been tested by authoritative departments such as the National Rubber Research Institute and have reached international standards; by trial by users, they can completely replace imports.
According to project manager Peng Li, brominated butyl rubber is a star product in modern synthetic rubber and an important strategic material of the country. Butyl rubber has excellent airtight properties, heat resistance, abrasion resistance and other properties, is an ideal material for the production of automotive tires, while the performance of bromobutyl rubber is further improved. The annual demand for butyl rubber and brominated butyl rubber in China is about 250,000 tons, and it is growing at a rate of 15% year-on-year. However, because of the high production technology requirements, butyl rubber is currently only industrialized in a few countries such as the United States, Germany, Italy, and Russia. The only production facilities for bromobutyl rubber are Exxon of the United States and LANXESS of Germany. Uniquely, China's market and prices have long been under foreign monopoly control.

It is the only large-scale butyl rubber plant in China. However, domestic production of bromobutyl rubber is still blank. Starting from last year, Longshan Chemical and its partners based on the results of the small-scale test of Zhejiang University, launched independent research and development of brominated butyl rubber production technology, achieved breakthroughs and broke the international monopoly.
China Tire Leading Enterprise Zhongce Rubber Co., Ltd. provided support for the testing and testing of pilot products.
