On March 18, 2008, the 4,125 mm diameter turbine forging shaft was machined in China's Double Forging Plant. This is the main shaft of China's two-way turbine processing and the largest forged shaft body ever processed by the company.
The diameter of the shaft shaft is 4125mm, and an annular groove with a minimum width of 38mm and a total length of 395mm is to be processed on the outer edge of the shaft body, and the tool holder of the 20m heavy-duty lathe for processing such products is manufactured by China DuPont Forging Factory. The diameter is only 350mm and the largest machining diameter is only 2700mm. This brings two major problems to the machining: the fixing and feeding of the workpiece. In order to solve these two problems, the workshop technicians and the machine tool operators have tried their best to design and manufacture the center support sleeve and the high-strength support claws to firmly fix the workpiece on the machine tool, and then process a length of 1000mm. Tool holder lever to extend the machine tool holder. Since the tool holder is extended, the machining strength is greatly reduced, and the technician uses the method of extending the tool holder rod step by step as the machining depth of the rotor groove is extended, so as to reduce the waste of mechanical work by the elasticity of the tool holder. Thanks to the joint efforts of the workshop technicians and the machine tool operators, this oversized turbine forging shaft was finally finished.
