Shady: China's 75% of electric meters have been intentionally accelerated

In response to people’s concerns about the problem of “shortages and shortfalls” in power supply measurement, the State Bureau of Technical Supervision organized inspections on 34 kinds of electricity meters produced by enterprises in 17 provinces across the country. It was found that 75% of all meters were positive. The error is what people call "fast." The results of the electricity meters being used by households are even more astonishing: 28% faster than the maximum deviation, and almost 10% faster, which means that residents have to pay 10%-28% more electricity for no reason.

The state expressly stipulates that the error of the meter is within the range of plus or minus 2%. Both of them are qualified products. It is understandable that the deviation of the measuring instrument may occur due to technical reasons; but the actual situation is far from this. With the in-depth investigation, some meter manufacturing companies finally revealed the truth: At present, most of the electricity meters produced by enterprises are installed by the power companies after they are purchased. Some power companies require private companies to produce electricity meters in order to obtain improper benefits. In the process, the meter will be adjusted faster, and the faster it is, the better. Otherwise, the product will be rejected because of your product's “non-conformity”.

As both athletes and referees are another key factor that causes the power sector to gain illegal profits, the power sector has long monopolized the operation of electric power and has taken over the proofreading and installation of all electric meters. In many places, the verification installation of the general meter is not only the responsibility of the electric power department, but also the total meter is the basis for metering charges of the electric power department. Although the sub meter can be purchased by the user itself, the metering of the sub meter can only be used as the user's own share of the electricity fee. The basis for this is that the key to where the user buys 100 yuan of electricity but can only use 70 yuan to 80 yuan of electricity, is also the mystery of why the error of the total table and the sub-table will greatly exceed the normal range.
